AimaLabs Launches Key Clinical Study with Aigio General Hospital to Validate AI-Powered Blood Cell Analysis
We are thrilled to announce that AimaLabs has officially launched a pivotal clinical study for the validation of our AI-powered diagnostic platform in collaboration with the Aigio General Hospital in Greece.
This crucial study, encompassing 300 patients from various departments over a 6-9 month period, is designed to rigorously evaluate the accuracy and efficiency of our technology against the current gold standard of manual microscopy.
We are honored to be working under the expert guidance of Dr. Panagiota Xaplanteri, Director of the Diagnostic Laboratory at Aigio Hospital. Her leadership and deep expertise in clinical diagnostics are invaluable to ensuring the scientific rigor and success of this study.
This collaboration marks a major milestone in our mission to close the diagnostic gap for blood disorders. The data generated will be foundational for our regulatory submissions and will bring us one step closer to making fast, accurate, and accessible diagnostics a reality for every patient.

AimaLabs joins Conception X Cohort 8, the UK’s leading PhD deeptech venture programme
AimaLabs is proud to be part of Conception X Cohort 8, the UK’s leading deeptech venture programme for PhD researchers turning breakthrough science into scalable companies. Founded in 2018 and now an independent non-profit, Conception X transforms PhD scientists into “Venture Scientists” — founders who bridge the gap between academia and industry.
Over the course of the nine-month programme, AimaLabs benefits from specialist entrepreneurship training, one-to-one coaching, and mentoring from experienced founders and industry experts, alongside access to one of Europe’s largest research-founder communities and its network of investors. The programme takes no equity and charges no fees, supporting researchers to build and launch deeptech ventures alongside their academic work.

AimaLabs engages with the NHS Innovation Service
AimaLabs is pleased to be participating in the NHS Innovation Service (innovation.nhs.uk), the national front door for healthcare innovators seeking to bring impactful new technologies into the NHS. Coordinated by NHS England’s Accelerated Access Collaborative, the service brings together a collective of expert partners to help innovations reach clinicians and patients faster.
As part of this, AimaLabs has registered with the service and submitted its innovation record for its AI-driven peripheral blood smear analysis platform. The NHS Innovation Service supports innovators in understanding the key elements of NHS adoption — from regulatory and standards requirements and clinical evidence generation to data governance, procurement, and market access.
For AimaLabs, engaging with the NHS Innovation Service is an important step in our UK strategy: a route to understanding the evidence, partnerships, and regulatory pathway needed to make accessible, software-only blood smear diagnostics part of routine NHS pathology — and ultimately to deliver faster, more equitable diagnosis for patients.
